|Cacoxenite from the Phosphoria Mine, Polk County Florida. Vugs developed in the massive rockbridgeite have a coating of clay (kaolinite, mostly) with sprays of cacoxenite growing on the clay coating. Typical material from the iron-rich caprock overlying the phosphate matrix. Collected in 1984 when this mine was active. FOV is .4 X .5 mm. Imaged with a 300mm canon telephoto and 23mm Nikon objective mounted in a tube configuration. Canon 40D and stacked using Combine Z. |
