|Yellow tetrahedron of helvite with pink bastnaesite and white manganoan calcite from the Granite Mountain Number 3 Quarry, Saline County, Arkansas. This amazing quarry is difficult to collect anything from. It is small and normally dusty! About a decade ago a few small pockets of coarse pegmatite turned up and some of it contained fair amounts of rhodochrosite. Nice little helvites were perched on and in the rhodochrosite (here just out of the view of this image). EPMA showed that the pink and gray hemispheres were actually a REE fluorcarbonate, probabaly bastnaesite. No more material like thi|
